Asia’s richest businessman, Mukesh Ambani, has announced the appointment of Ira Bindra as the new Group President of People, Leadership, and Talent at Reliance Industries Limited. Ambani is considering revamping policies across all sectors, from oil to telecom.
Typically, announcements about senior-level appointments are made by functional heads, but Bindra is the first individual whose appointment has been directly announced by Reliance’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mukesh Ambani.
This move signifies an attempt to bring extensive changes to the Reliance Group, with the initial expectation being that Bindra will drive unprecedented levels of human resource transformation within the company.

In an internal organizational message, Reliance Chairman Ambani stated, “Bindra joins us from Medtronic in the US, where she was Head of Human Resources and Vice President for global regions. As Group President – People and Talent at Reliance, she will work closely with me, Isha, Akash, Anant, and the entire executive committee to drive transformative change in our people, culture, and leadership.”
Who is Ira bindra
For context, Bindra graduated from Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi in 1998 and pursued her postgraduation in Business Administration at Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands in 1999. Subsequently, she worked with GE Capital, GE India, GE Healthcare, and GE Oil & Gas before joining Medtronic in 2018.
